Angela Spang – Press Release 03/07/2017
• Serial Entrepreneur Angela Spang wins First Women’s Entrepreneur Of The Year Award 2017.
• Former Ballerina & working mother of two, Angela Spang swaps one stage for another as she accepts First Women’s Entrepreneur Of The Year Award 2017.
• Angela Spang wins First Women’s Entrepreneur Of The Year Award through her ambition to change the world for millions of patients and reduce the number of unnecessary surgical injuries and deaths.
Angela is the founder of a total of 7 companies including June Medical and The London Medical Academy, LMEDAC. Not only is Angela a successful business woman but she is overtly passionate about making a difference with the companies that she has created.
“Winning Entrepreneur of the year 2017 was a big shock, but a very welcome one. I was truly honoured (and slightly intimidated) by just being a Finalist, and couldn’t in my wildest dreams imagining taking the award home!” said Angela.
I attended the night to applaud and honour the Finalists and Winners, feeling inspired and motivated by the sheer talent in the room. I was so proud when my name was next to the household names on the screen, and then absolutely floored when Dale Murray called my name!
It all started with Angela Spang’s first company, JUNE MEDICAL. Having worked in connection with medical education throughout her career, she had worked within the industry for 15 years and had a particular interest in women’s health. Through this experience, Angela recognised that there was an opportunity and a need to bring safe and effective medical devices into the UK and that there was no dedicated distributer for women’s health devices. Hence, JUNE MEDICAL was born.
As JUNE MEDICAL developed, Angela realised that no matter how good the medical devices that she could provide and distribute were/are, the biggest variable was in fact the surgical training and how the medical devices were introduced into the market. Logically, if the surgeon doesn’t know how to use the product safety and effectively, if they haven’t undergone a safe learning curve, the results won’t and can’t be successful, no matter how great the product is. This realisation lead to Angela setting up LMEDAC, her London Medical Academy, which trains surgeons how to use these products properly before they operate on a living individual.
“That is why my focus is moving to LMEDAC, because that is how we will change the world for millions of patients and reduce the number of unnecessary surgical injuries and deaths.”
JUNE MEDICAL making products available in itself was a start, but now moving forwards it is about the bigger picture. We do not just run a successful, growing business now with LMEDAC in place, we have now our sights on something so much more significant. We are set on making changes for the better and saving lives, that is what really matters the most.
Angela admits that “I attended the night to applaud and honour the Finalists and Winners, feeling inspired and motivated by the sheer talent in the room. I was so proud when my name was next to the household names on the screen, and then absolutely floored when Dale Murray called my name!”
Angela acknowledges that without the team around her, her success to date and that to come, would not be possible. Building and managing a successful team is very important to her and so she has ‘handpicked’ her team, from different parts of the UK and chosen the individuals who she believes are the best to make Angela’s vision for JUNE MEDICAL & LMEDAC reality.
JUNE MEDICAL currently stands within the top 30 most caring companies in the UK and has also won several awards for SME Excellence and Business Leadership over the last three years.
Her most recent award, honours her commitment to promoting the roles of females within business, her commitment to her team and the continual delivery of excellence within her field. A former ballet dancer and a hugely passionate individual, Angela always strives for perfection be that in her personal or professional life and is a devoted mother of two daughters so she understands the pressures of the modern working mother.
Her desire to expand knowledge provides real benefit to many women and shows how passion in the search for excellence can often go hand in hand with success. Angela serves not just as a successful business woman and entrepreneur but also as true role model for those both near and far. Angela is a very worthy winner of the First Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award and no doubt there will be many more awards to come.
Angela confesses that “winning this means the world to me: for me, my companies, my amazing teams and all the patients we help coming back to a better life. All of this is a true dream come through”.
